Rationale:

These unit plans are crafted to adapt to the unique needs and pace of each individual dancer. With the understanding that learning to dance is not a one-size-fits-all endeavor, I worked to create units that allowed for lesson designs within each targeted area to be flexible regarding timelines and encourage exploration at the dancer's own pace. Here, we celebrate process just as much as the final product. We believe that true growth comes from embracing the learning journey, from the exhilaration of learning a new skill to the joy of finding your own artistic voice. My units are designed to cultivate creativity, encourage risk-taking, and foster a deep appreciation for the art of dance. Whether students are seasoned artists or taking their first steps onto the dance floor, there's is room for growth at each level. This inclusive approach ensures that dancers all across the experience spectrum feel supported, challenged, and inspired to learn. I found that designing each component based on what each classroom community as a whole needed worked well this academic season. In the past, I've received feedback that I tend to frontload a lot of information and that can be overwhelming for studetns new to dance. With that feedback, I allowed myself to remain moldable as a teacher and allow our curriculum to shift as needed.
