Standards Addressed:

2C3: Applies knowledge of learning theory in all aspects of instructional design.

2C6: Demonstrates understanding that instruction should be connected to students’ prior experiences and family, culture, and community.

3C1: Understands the components and organization of an effective curriculum, is able to create aligned learning experiences, can locate national and state standards, and is able to align them to learning outcomes.

Rationale:

I focused my PGP to work towards stimulating more critical thinking aspects in my classroom. I believe at the time, this was the standard I struggled to connect with the most and wanted to prioritize in my content area. Fostering critical thinking and higher-order thinking is crucial for preparing students to thrive in our very fact-paced society. By cultivating these skills, educators empower learners to become lifelong learners, responsible citizens, and active participants in shaping their own futures. Providing experience in these real-life applicable skills; critical thinking and higher-order thinking, are indispensable tools for success IRL.
